Saturday Cinema Challenge

Image
OK - I missed the last TWO! of these so I am taking no chances on what looks like another busy work week. SO here is my entry for Miracle on 34th Street. I know this line is not in the movie (and that the little girls name is Susan in the movie) but this is what I always think of when I watch this movie. The reference "Yes Virginia There is a Santa Claus comes from a child writing to the Sun Newpaper and the editor answering with the spirit of the season. The card uses Bazzil Paper and Ribbon I forget the patterned paper brand. The Santa stamp is from Oriental Trading and the Letters are Studio G wooden letters. This is colored in with a combination of Tim Holtz inks (with the SU blender pen), Koh-i-nor pencils with mineral spirits and liquid applique. Brads, floss and a decorative eyelet round it out.

I played with some of my older paper (DCWV) and some of my new stamps (Hero Arts) using Tim Holtz Distress Ink and my new Stampin Up punch. Here are the six cards I came up with:

KWerner Challenge

Here is the color inspiration --- VERY pretty I gave it a shot with this card. The picture didn't catch the silver too well --- love this new ribbon I just got too. This will probably be a card I use for a gift rather then mail due to the dimensions - but I had fun creating it. Bazzill paper - ribbon is off a role from the scrapbbok store so I don't know, stamp from Northwoods (Greeting and trees) and Oriental Trading (Snow flake). Ranger embossing tinsel. Pretty simple card!

It's been over a week...

Image
WOW! Definitely my bad! I started making frames and then I also had to work extra hours last week coz I am taking this week off. My favorite thing EVER to do is to lie in bed and read which I did yesterday. My hubby even brought me breakfast in bed -- LOVE him! Read The Host - cool book has a bit of the flavor of the Twilight series even if it is a totally different subject matter, I think it should have been named The Soul though. I was waiting to post the frames until I had them all done and on the wall --- but I am waiting for "spackle man!" Otherwise known as my hubby. He works part time and does runs. Well since everyone else is taking this week off he has had NO time to spackle the wall for me. Hey in this economy we are NOT turning down work! Anyway so I gave up and took a picture of them all laid out on my floor. Here they all are!

Sunday Project

Image
My hubby and I headed up to Duluth yesterday and spent the day with my daughter. So no scrapping but some good memories. So today I was a little tired and my hubby had to go out and play a benefit for a coworker that had to have emergency surgery but has no health insurance. He is in the band the Mosspiglets. They are at http://mosspiglets.com/ if you are interested. Anyaway so I started a project I keep forgeting to start. Making frames for the picture wall. Here are the first two. Sorry the pics arent the best. They will all "match" when I am done. But probably not doing anymore tonight --- big yawn! hehehe

Taylored Expressions 42 Challenge

Image
This is the sketch that Taylor provided -- Simple but fun! I decided to play with my piggytales paper I have left from a class I took at CKU. I love their high quality bold patterns. I used their patterned paper and one of their "Barn Doors". Very fun. I also used light and dark purple Bazzill paper. SU Baroque roller stamp, Ink-a-dink-a-doo stamp, Kaiser rhinestones, and misc paper from my stash - oh and of course - popdots! Here it is with Barn door closed: And Barn door opened"

Beary Challenging!

Image
OK - I admit it - I used a technique I said I didn't like. I have not been liking it when people put different flower colors together because the flowers can't be that way in nature the whole logical engineer thing. And yet I did it on this layout. I wanted a way to pull out the parrots beautiful colors and since the layout is meant to be fun, it kinda fit (Just like my foot into my mouth! hehehe) I found these two challenges over at Tina's Place here is the link: http://bearybox.blogspot.com/ - I hope y'all like what I did for them! So Here is the sketch I followed: And since I am addicted to two page layouts here is my interpretation using MME patterned paper, Pearlescent cardstock from Wausau, BG ribbon, letters and flourish from lordan on Etsy, journal stamp from Art Warehouse, CM Circle Cutters, Misc Flowers (see above!), and Parrot from Puerto Rico - hehehe And here is the card sketch: And my interpretation: Using BG paper, MME paper, Bazzill Cardstock, hero arts...

KWerner Challenge #30

Image
These colors reminded me of softness and loved the white contrasted with the green Here is my simple card this week -- I used just white paper and chalks (as well as the Bazzill Card stock base) Even the edge is just white paper with chalk. Oh and embossing on the cuttlebug

Saturday Cinema Challenge - Geisha

Image
Well - here is my entry - this one took me a while but I had fun making it. I tossed a couple of versions before this one. But here is my entry for Memoirs of a Geisha with a close up of the fan:

Basic Grey Purse

Image
Paperlicious got me inspired to try this little mini purse. Here is my version of it using Basic Grey. The purse is small and the embellie is large so I kept it kind-of simple. I tried to make the top look like the leather edge of a real purse with the "bends". I think I should stick to layouts and cards! hehehe This meets the on-line challenge at http://dutchdare-cardchallenges.blogspot.com/ which wants anything but a card.

KWerner Challenge

Image
Here are the colors this week and it totally reminded me of our Puerto Rico vacation -- so I did a layout this time Bazzill paper, Queen and Co felt flowers, 7 Gypsies Stamps, Kaiser Bling, TH stickles. The Title: The journaling: The husband: My beautiful girls: All together

Grease - Cinema Saturday

Image
This weeks Cinema Saturday is Grease. When I think of the movie I think of the TBirds leather coats and the pink ladies and the Hair styles (Remember Beauty School DropOut) Well from all that inspiration came this card, using sparkly silver paper with shiny black and of course pink with pearls!
