Zukesgirl Creates

Inspired by The Color Throw Down and Kristina Werner, I covered blue mirror card stock (Love from Lizi) with Nuvo Glimmer paste (Black Diamond) using a doily stencil from my stash. I split the paper and capped it with a Love from Lizi gold mirror peel off. Then using a die from Honey Bee Stamps, I die cut the sentiment with gold mirror card stock (LFL) and backed it, with inspiration from Amy R, with vellum. Simple but impactful. And two cards out of one design. 

I loved the fun but simple colors of this week's challenge. So I kept my card simple too. I used American Crafts paper and some green shiny paper I got as a Christmas gift from my hubby. Stamping Up Scallop Punch. The ribbon is from Bazzill and the stamp is from My Sentiments Exactly Birthday Sentiments with Espresso Adirondack Ink from Ranger. Can you believe NO popdots!?! Here are this weeks challenge colors: I used signature suite paper for the base card, bazzil paper (dark brown), SU punch, KI Memories Love series stamps, ribbon from my stash, CTMH white embossing powder (for the word) and all the hearts are pop dotted. It was fun doing hearts in this non-standard color!

The hubby went to play at the Winter bluegrass festival last night. So I ended up going to bed early and got up this morning and decided to give Kristina's color challenge a try. His band is at mosspiglets.com for anyone interested -- my hubby wrote and sang Small Town USA which is my fave of their new album. The CDs are on order -woohoo they are out of the studio! Albums take a LONG time to make! Anway back to the card: The base is Junkitz paper -- Also used DCWV (pink pattern), BG (brown pattern and tag), a strip of dark brown Bazzill is under the vellum. I do not remember the name of the vellum maker as it came from my stash. The brads are from Queen and Co. The stamps -- the words are CTMH and the dots are a SU roller. I used Adirondack Earthtones Espresso for stamping and Dark Brown Cats Eye chalk ink for inking the edges. The ribbon is from my LSS and I love it but dont know the brand. I actually had time to do it this week the colors were kiwi green, mustard yellow, rust and white I dont have much that was close to rust so I used an orangey rust in the big brad and the stickles. Here is the color inspiration --- VERY pretty I gave it a shot with this card. The picture didn't catch the silver too well --- love this new ribbon I just got too. This will probably be a card I use for a gift rather then mail due to the dimensions - but I had fun creating it. Bazzill paper - ribbon is off a role from the scrapbbok store so I don't know, stamp from Northwoods (Greeting and trees) and Oriental Trading (Snow flake). Ranger embossing tinsel. Pretty simple card!

These colors reminded me of softness and loved the white contrasted with the green Here is my simple card this week -- I used just white paper and chalks (as well as the Bazzill Card stock base) Even the edge is just white paper with chalk. Oh and embossing on the cuttlebug

I am having fun creating in my studio today. I gave KWerners challenge a try - here are the colors: Here is my interpretation: I used clear emboss and the resist technique -- I inked with Tim Holtz inks (the stamp is from Hero Arts) The ribbon is from Stampin Up and the paper is from scraps and of course Bazzill --- and Pop dots! It is a pretty simple card but I like it.

I love these. This week here are the colors and the inspiration: I loved that there was just a touch of the blue in the shower curtain So I mage the following card with just a touch of blue I used Bazzil and Basic Grey paper, SU White Ink with White embossing powder. The writing is a Hero Arts stamp and the scalloped stamp is CTMH. The ribbon is from my stash and the letters are Twinkle Type. I love how the colors play together! In the worlds of Everclear (Warning: obscure song by obscure band reference but it has been running through my head this morning!) "Here we go again... I know, I know, I know, I know, I know... Yes I WAS going to spend all evening making gifts for my friends YES I did get distracted by this challenge. But it is TOO fun! Here are the colors that Kristin chose this week -- -for me it was a challenge! These colors are suppose to go together? hmmmm. Did I mention I LOVE these challenges. I got a box today from LoriMart (wooohooo) so I was all about using some new stuff. Oh and I HAD to use the template that Kristin offered up to every one with that beautiful swirl. Lets see - I used my Heidi Swapp mask with the Tim Holtz mini misters (mister contained worn lipstick and perfect pearls) to to make the swirls (and the heart in the title). I am loving these challenges! This week Kristin picked some very sweet colors. The pink and green together is beautiful and I LOVE brown. Here are her colors: Aren't they just beautiful colors! Here is my card for Kristin's challenge: For this card I used Bazzill paper (3 shades), some ribbon, QandCo micro brads stickles in cinnamon and cotton candy (I added some coral glitter to the cotton candy stickles), Koh-i-nor colored pencils, Espresso brown ink from Ranger, Studio G stamp (flower), SU stamp (words), clear embossing, TH Ruler for the holes and of course -pop dots!

Kristin is back!!! Her blog is working, her back is better (yeah) and she has a new color challenge posted. I gave it a go with using pink as my highlight color. I used Bazzill cardstock in grey, back. The white is from a textured ream I bought at a local paper source wharehouse. I used some black gross grain ribbon, some Tim Holtz Blak Soot Ink, black embossing power, Hero Arts stamps (dots), Inkadinkadoo stamps (Got Cake), Glaze pen (pink) and pink paper from Heidi swapp for the highlight. And of course MM pop dots. Hope you like it!
